Experimental animation using conventional CG models and render with AI. Soundtrack made with individual treated samples and GameSynth
Experimetal sequence using a mix of Al generative techniques with traditional 3D rendering and smoke simulation. Assembled in After Effects. Soundtrack done with multi layered samples processed using Adobe Audition and GameSynth.
First delve into the murky world of AI to see if I could make, or get it to make, something evocative and hopefully poetic. Combining different techniques and software to get the initial structure of an impossible landscape. The concept of permanence and fragility is explored through the rugged mountains and minimal human structures. The digital comms sound in the soundtrack hints at satellite surveillance.
Experimental smoke simulation. Very high frames per second are required to fully resolve fine details and forms that otherwise would be missing. First attempt at including fuel in the simulation rather than just smoke and forces.
Soundtrack done with a variety of samples pieced together and digitally manipulated. Forwards and backwards, to create tension.
Experimental smoke simulation. Very high, frames per second, to fully resolve fine details and forms that otherwise would be missing. Soundtrack crafted using a variety of single note samples pieced together and digitally manipulated. Forwards and backwards melodies.
Experimental abstract animation with a more melodic soundtrack made out of multi layered single note samples. Aiming for an acoustic feel. Forward and backward melodies for fun.
Another experimental smoke simulation. Pushing the software with very high, frames per second, to fully resolve fine details that otherwise would be missing. Soundtrack done with manipulated multi layered samples.
Experimental abstract animation and soundtrack.
Recurring theme of order and chaos.
Another experimental abstract smoke animation with soundtrack.
Trying to get as much detail as possible into the simulation.
Ten animation loops for Atech Cloud's website and promotional videos. Fun brief to develop these using only simple shapes to represent all the stuff to do with data storage in the cloud.
Working from single image storyboards, I was given a free hand to develop these into sequences and add some personality to the motion.

Concept to create a series of short squences around the theme of altered states and transformation.
This is on the theme of time. Echoed in the forwards and reversed sounds in the soundtrack
Execution was done with cutting-edge fluid simulation software. Crafting the forces and settings to create abstract animations that evolve in shape and colour and transform at a certain point into a different state. Not created using Ai. The soundtracks were developed to ground the narrative and help set the mood
Experimental abstract animation and soundtrack. Pushing a smoke simulation to act like more like a fluid.
The dragon is made out of furniture that is set out in a line and only reads as such from a front view. Initially the idea was to have a simple camera move to reveal the original dragon design.
The brief was open to reinterpretation. Rather than just a camera sweeping around the furniture in place, introduce a zero gravity feel and have the different elements collide, intersect and fall into place building up some curiosity and only resolve it in the last few seconds.

Soundtrack pieced together with disparate samples overlaying a drum loop.
Commissioned to develop some ideas and progress one into a looping animation for a web article about CO2 reduction goals.
This had a number of challenges. Not least, achieving a pleasing, organic-looking, cloth-like motion for the petals, and making that transition into the hard surface of the carbon dioxide molecule. Very tight deadline, with just enough time to complete the necessary testing and iterations.

Cover illustration design and an animation for social media. Initial idea was to show different biomes and minerals in a layered globe for their cover story on climate change.
The client was open to developing the idea further, and after some experimentation, was able to push for a more abstract approach.

The brief was to develop and create an animation loop for the landing page for Nature around the theme of robotics and Ai. This ended up as over 12 individual looping sequences set within translucent blocks. The two halves forming the AI and at some level representing adversarial neural networks. That was the plan.
Abstract animation and sound design.
